How to turn a screen recording into a week of LinkedIn posts
Record your app's screen for a minute, upload the file, tick the screens you want, and you get one LinkedIn post and one 4:5 card per screen, each written from what that screen shows. Six screens is a week of posts. The writing takes about twenty seconds; the recording is the only part you do by hand.
1. Record the screen
On Android: Settings, or the quick-settings tile, Screen recorder. On iPhone: Control Centre, Screen Recording. Record 30 to 90 seconds of the app doing its job: open a feature, use it, see the result, move to the next. Do not narrate; the audio is dropped. Keep each view on screen for three seconds or more, because the recording is cut where the picture changes, and a view that flashes past becomes a screen with nothing to say.
2. Upload it
In Demopost, open your product, click Add, choose the file (MP4 or MOV, up to 300 MB). The recording is cut at scene changes into screens of 3 to 15 seconds, and each screen gets a one-line description written from its frame: what is on screen, literally, including any numbers and labels. This costs 1 credit for the whole recording. Read the descriptions and correct anything the frame did not make obvious; the writers only know what the description says.
3. Tick the screens and write
On the LinkedIn tab, tick the screens you want posts for. The button names the count and the cost, one credit per screen. Click it. Each post comes back with a headline, 60 to 140 words of first-person text in a plain voice, three hashtags, and a card with the headline printed over the frame. Under every post is a line saying which screen it was written from and what that screen's description says, so you can check the claim against the evidence in one glance.
4. What the post will and will not say
It says what the screen shows and why that matters to the reader. It does not invent users, results or statistics. If a screen's description names nothing identifiable, for example a blank or loading view, no post is written for it and the credit comes back. Edit the text in place if the voice is not yours; the card does not change unless you rewrite the headline and write again.
5. Post one a day
Copy the text with the product link, save the card, post on LinkedIn by hand, then mark it posted and paste the URL back so the workspace shows what is done. Demopost never connects to LinkedIn and never posts for you. One screen a day for a week is a launch; keep the recording and you can write the next week from the screens you skipped.
Common mistakes
- Recording a scroll through a settings page. Nothing happens, so there is nothing to write. Record outcomes.
- Skipping the description check. An empty or wrong description produces a post that says nothing or the wrong thing.
- Writing all ten screens at once and posting all ten at once. Post one a day; LinkedIn rewards consistency over volume.
